Download X: Balance Sheet Reconciliation Tracker (.xlsx)

What it does

Lists every balance sheet account, compares the ledger with the supporting schedule, records reconciling items, preparer and reviewer, works out the review due date in working days, ages open items and scores completion by risk rating.

Who it is for

Controllers and finance managers.

How to use it

  1. Go to 'Settings'. Type the month end, the number of working days allowed after month end, the difference threshold and your holidays.
  2. Go to 'Accounts'. List each balance sheet account with its risk rating and owner. Paste the trial balance figure in 'GL balance' and the total of the supporting schedule in 'Schedule balance'.
  3. Type the reconciling items that explain any difference (with their oldest item date), then the preparer, reviewer and the dates they signed off.
  4. Read the 'Status' column. 'Complete' means the account agrees within the threshold, was prepared and reviewed by different people, and was reviewed on time.
  5. Go to 'Summary' for completion by risk rating and the Checks box.
