Download K: Month-End Close Checklist (.xlsx)

What it does

Close calendar for a toll road / InvIT finance team. Working days turn into real dates (skipping weekends and holidays), with status, overdue flags and % complete by area.

Who it is for

Controllers and finance managers who run the close.

How to use it

  1. Go to 'Settings'. Type the month-end date you are closing (for example 30-Sep-2026) and the 'as of' date (today's date when you update the file). Type your holidays in the list.
  2. Go to 'Checklist'. Review the sample tasks. Change, delete or add tasks; for each one choose the area, type the owner and reviewer, and the working day: 0 = last working day of the month, 1 = first working day after month-end, -1 = one working day before, and so on.
  3. As work progresses, change 'Status' (Not started, In progress, Done, Not applicable) and type the completion date.
  4. Overdue tasks and tasks done late are highlighted. The 'Dashboard' tab shows % complete by area and overall.
  5. Save a copy for each month (for example Close-Sep-2026.xlsx) to keep an audit trail.
