GSTR-2B vs Books Reconciliation
Match the GSTR-2B you download from the GST portal with your purchase register. Invoices are matched by supplier GSTIN and invoice number, then checked for taxable value, IGST, CGST, SGST, cess and date.

How the matching works
- Clean-up: GSTINs are upper-cased; invoice numbers ignore spaces, slashes, dashes, case and leading zeros, so INV/0012 and inv-12 match. Dates in dd-mm-yyyy, yyyy-mm-dd, 05-Jul-25 or Excel format are understood.
- Duplicates: the same GSTIN and invoice number twice in one file is flagged and kept out of matching.
- Exact match: same GSTIN and invoice number. Differences above your tolerance in taxable value, any tax head or date are listed.
- Probable match: same GSTIN and same amounts, with a nearly identical invoice number. Review these by hand.
- Unmatched: in GSTR-2B but not booked, or booked but not in GSTR-2B (follow up with the supplier before claiming ITC).
The Excel report has a Summary sheet and separate sheets for differences, missing invoices, duplicates and rows that could not be read. Text that could be mistaken for a spreadsheet formula is made safe before export.
